Coaches - Getting Started
First steps for new coaches
Step 1: Create an Account and Purchase a Membership
- Create Your Profile: Go to the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Create Account Page to establish a brand-new user profile from scratch.
- Select Your Membership: Choose the Snowboard Coach Membership tier during checkout on the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Membership Portal.
- Affiliate with Your Club: When prompted to select your local club/team during registration, explicitly choose Minnesota Select Snowboarding.
- Review Registration Guide: If you experience any roadblocks during the initial checkout or club selection flow, use the step-by-step U.S. Ski & Snowboard New Member Registration Guide for guidance.
Step 2: Complete Screening Requirements (Adult Compliance)
- Note: Your coaching status will remain "Pending" and you cannot step on the snow with Minnesota Select riders until these clear.
- Access Your Dashboard: Log back into your newly created account via your personalized U.S. Ski & Snowboard Account Dashboard to view your required onboarding checklist.
- Background Screening: Follow the regional prompts on your dashboard to submit a mandatory criminal background check (this processing can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks).
- SafeSport Training: Complete the core SafeSport training module linked directly inside your member profile.
Step 3: Start the Level 100 Educational Courses
- Register for the Academy: Create your secondary learning profile on the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Sport Education Academy (SEA).
- Coaching Fundamentals: Complete the prerequisite online course covering universal athletic development principles, safety protocols, and team communication fundamentals.
- Snowboard-Specific Modules: Complete the digital technical coursework for snowboarding (which covers freestyle/park, snowboardcross, and fundamental riding techniques) available inside your academy courses tab.
Step 4: Coordinate Regional On-Snow Clinics & Team Drills
- Find a Central Division Clinic: Search for local Level 100 on-snow assessment clinics hosted within Minnesota (frequently scheduled at regional partner areas like Buck Hill or Elm Creek Park Reserve) via your calendar tab on the Sport Education Academy Platform.
- Sync with MNSS Leadership: Before or directly after your practical exam, coordinate with your head coach or team management via the Minnesota Select Snowboarding Contact Form or directly at info@mnssnow.com to plan your on-snow training schedule and team curriculum.
